The Livin' Is Easy

Summertime is baseball time. Besides trains, and particularly The Little Engine That Could (complete with the songs recorded by Burl Ives and John Denver and 1930 book by Watty Piper), HG is fascinated by balls. That's his friends all shooting hoops when our weekly play group met at our house. Even though he's a righty, HG swings lefty. And when the sun rises on a clear day, there's nothing like a little naked Tball before breakfast to start the morning.

HG still loves to eat a scrambled egg every day for lunch, so we got some more chicks. They should start laying eggs in about four months. The two in the photo are Ameracaunas; they are known as easter eggers and will lay green or blue eggs.

I took HG on his first boat ride - an educational tour of the bay courtesy of Humboldt Baykeepers. We saw oyster beds, osprey in their nest, and a variety of other boaters.
