Summertime

Summertime; ya gotta love it. We're picking blueberries everyday and giving the chickens all kinds of good snacks - marigolds, melon rinds, blueberries, lettuce, and sowbugs from the garden. We get plenty of eggs, so Humboldt can help his papa make pancakes on Saturdays. This month, Bo took swimming lessons at the pool at HSU, rode the Samoa Speeder, and visited the county library. He's having a blast swimming in the rivers in his life jacket.

Last weekend, we hiked in the national park near Big Tree (284 ft). Humboldt is a very good observer and enjoys leading the convoy. He completed this hike on his own, which is a good thing, as he's a big guy to carry. For video of the hike, check out the Favorite Links to the right.
Every hike in the redwood forest should include at least one, if not many, banana slug sightings. Check out the size of the growth rings on the old-growth tree.
