Summer Solstice

We started the spring with a trip to San Francisco. My brother, Jeffrey, was rooting for the Cardinals. Fortunately we got to see each team win a game, after watching the San Francisco Giants hoist the World Champion flag. Meanwhile in Dogville, our Buster Posey is a loyal Giants fan, and Chutney is favoring the team with the best record in the MLB.

Mothers Day was amazing. During our visit to Wedding Rock in Patrick's Point State Park, we got to see a mama grey whale and her baby swim around in the Pacific. What a treat.

Humboldt has been taking some classes this spring. Here's a photo of him with Cora at the Arcata Pool; his swim teacher, Rita, calls him "Bolt."
Here's a beautiful picture of Humboldt and Nyrie. They both took a musical theater class through Humboldt Music Academy, and I took this photo after their performance of A Spoonful Of Sugar from Mary Poppins. They sang and danced and had a lot of fun being dramatic and entertaining.
Here is Humboldt with his kindergarten buddy, Cassidy, having a tennis lesson at the local courts. Their teacher, Casey, is a natural with kids and makes tennis lots of fun. He was also a former student mine when I taught 4th grade at Equinox.
The big event in kindergarten this spring was the play. Each student got to choose a character, and the teacher wrote a play for them. Humboldt was BOT V 0 1-2 and is still really interested in robots.
After school ended with an overnight camping trip for all the kindergartners and a lot of parents, we headed for the beach. Here's Humboldt with a classmate, Nova, and one happy puppy. It's always tough to convince kids that it's time to leave the beach, but I hope we'll have more playdates there over the summer. It's such a great place to play.
