Fall, of course, is Humboldt's favorite season: Halloween and his birthday! He was a brown bear this year, and gave us all cuddly bear hugs. Here he is at a halloween festival with Kody, the Ninja. Next stop…birthday! This is a photo of Humboldt in First Grade at Union Street wearing his birthday crown.
On the day of his 7th birthday, Humboldt performed The Lonely Goatherd, from The Sound of Music, with his musical theater class. We celebrated afterwards with ice cream at The Scoop, where a new school friend joined us. We also got to visit with several members of his bio family.
My favorite part of the season was spending our 20th anniversary on the Big Island of Hawaii. We took Humboldt's tennis racquet along, and here he is showing us one of his lefty overhand shots.
One of the neatest parts of any visit to the Big Island is getting to see a live volcano, along with waterfalls, mongooses, tropical birds, amazing underwater life, and lovely sunsets.
Humboldt's favorite part of the trip was boogie boarding. Here he is hauling his board out at Kua Bay, a gorgeous beach with excellent waves, great snorkeling, and oh-so-fine sand.
Humboldt still believes in the magic of winter, and Fred puts up all colors of solstice lights inside and outside the house for decoration. The photo with Nyrie and Scarlet was taken just after they all sat on Santa's lap and asked for something special. The three were treated to another wonderful show of the Nutcracker the following weekend, and then Winter Solstice arrived, with abundant generosity from Santa and two weeks of holiday in Whoville. Until next year…may the magic be with you.
