May is gardening month. Humboldt really likes to get in the dirt, play in the sandbox, observe and touch the plants, and run in the grass. He's learning to play catch and take care of a garden. His wine barrel garden has radishes, a sunflower, and a turtle statue. Humboldt is still really good at growing; he was just shy of 43 inches when measured for his half birthday, and 48 lbs.

Here's our Mothers Day portrait. I'm so lucky to have this little guy in my life. Respect to all the mamas out there, and especially all the mamas who put theirs up for adoption.

I just liked this photo of the pittosporum hedge. Humboldt was having fun in the backyard. I love barefoot weather, and this was one of the lovely sunny days amidst the rainy days with hail, like today.

The new moon gave us a nice negative low tide for our first tide-pooling morning of the year. We went into the cave at Houda Point, and Fred found several chitons on the rocks. There were plenty of sea stars, anemones, goose-neck barnacles, and mussels, along with crabs and a few critters. Our friends' daughter, Miss E, got even wetter than Bo, and everyone had a good time. And it was early!

Oh, and here are the apple blossoms which inspired last month's post title.
