Florida Trip

From the Redwood Forests to the Gulf Stream Waters, we travelled to Florida. Out boat ride on the Cocohatchee River was a real treat, and Humboldt "caught" his first fish, a jack crevalle. We saw all kinds of wildlife: an eagle carrying a stick, dolphins playing right off the beach, alligators, a swarm of tree swallows, a huge turtle (that peed on me while I was moving it off the road), butterflies, and manatees - we could even listen to them click and chirp via an underwater microphone.

Humboldt really liked the "chickee" which was used by local Indians in the past. And yes, that is him touching a young alligator. We both had fun visiting with Aunt Jean and Uncle Earl; they've got great stories and a very cute little dog.
During the week, Humboldt served as the fob-boy (opening automatic doors) and the elevator button pusher - we had an awesome view from our room on the 16th floor. He started doing tricks in the pool and loved all the toys and bikes that were available to us. Ralph went on bike rides with us around Bonita Bay and took us out for ice cream; Brenda read Bo lots of books from the local library. She has only to undergo one more week of breast cancer radiation treatments, and she was heard talking about maybe "swinging the wrenches" (golfing) pretty soon...
