Summer Solstice

Photo op! As most of you will probably agree, it's so nice to have a phone with a camera for those surprise moments when someone's doing something cute…like becoming part of a tree. So that was my photo op of the spring season. Below is ATT Park on a beautiful April day when we got to see the Giants new pitcher beat the Rockies and the short stop hit a Splasher home run into the bay!
After the ball game, Humboldt and I flew to Florida and went swimming in the gulf with cousin Wolf. Ralph stayed on the beach. Not in photo: Brenda, who actually did get into the salt water!
I love this photo of Humboldt and Nyrie with chicks on their heads; kids are so entertaining. The next photo is of "Clammy" the little chick with a lot to learn about two months later. Or at least the new Clammy, since one bold chick managed to escape. Then, the very sad photo of Humboldt in ER the day of the bike accident. Which, on the bright side, afforded him much time to play with Lego, a new passion. He was very careful to let his abdominal wound heal for six weeks, but now we're ready for an active summer. The first day off school, we went to the beach - photo with Kody at College Cove.

For our solstice breakfast, Humboldt chose organic donuts (I make them in the fry daddy). He left a few gifts for the solstice fairy the night before - a book he made, a note, and a flower in a craft stick structure. The last photo is at the library; a magician same on summer solstice to kick off the summer reading program and magically read Humboldt's mind. And last, I've posted a video of Humboldt's Ode to Dogs, which was inspired by a week-visit from Buster B-Dog's brother, Zeus, and Big Nate, a character in a children's comic series who loves cheese doodles.
